Warm Homes Fund and Social Housing Fund

Eligible Improvements

The Warm Homes Fund and Social Housing Fund aim to deliver comprehensive energy efficiency improvements to social housing properties with poor energy performance. These schemes focus on delivering whole-house retrofit packages that address multiple aspects of a property’s energy use, significantly improving comfort and reducing heating costs for residents. Key insulation measures include loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, underfloor insulation for ground-floor properties, and both internal and external solid wall insulation, all designed to minimise heat loss and boost thermal efficiency.

In addition to insulation, the funds support the installation of renewable heating systems to replace outdated and inefficient methods such as oil or electric heating. Options like air source and ground source heat pumps, as well as biomass boilers, offer low-carbon alternatives that reduce energy bills while lowering carbon emissions. These technologies are particularly effective in off-gas areas, where traditional heating options may be limited or costly.

Further eligible improvements include the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal systems, which harness renewable energy to power homes and provide hot water. The schemes also cover energy-efficient doors and windows, along with draught-proofing measures to prevent cold air infiltration and retain warmth indoors. By combining these upgrades, the Warm Homes Fund and Social Housing Fund deliver a holistic approach to energy efficiency, ensuring long-term benefits for tenants and the environment.
